Every once in a while, something happens that tends to relieve some of the stress and tension of the harsh economic realities in today’s Nigeria (talk of comic relieve). The latest is from the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports - Solomon Dalung, who has recently submitted that the past tense of SPEND is SPENDED!
This certainly is not English that you want your children to hear. Click the thumbnails below to watch:
Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted:
A look at part of the Honourable minister's curriculum vitae shows that "while a staff of the Nigerian Prisons Service, he enrolled to study Law at the University of Jos in 1991. He thereafter graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law in the year 2000. He immediately proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja, and was later called to the Nigerian Bar in 2001".
There appears to be a systemic problem in the Nigerian education system!
