Report reaching the newsdesk of aksu360 indicate that the first semester examination (for the 2015/2016 academic session) of Akwa Ibom State University has commenced in earnest across almost fourty (40) departments of the institution. This is in line with the Senate approved academic calendar of the institution for the present session.
When aksu360 visited the University over the weekend, it was observed that students of various departments and levels were very busy and spent time doing revision/tutorials in preparation for the exams. It would be recalled that the calendar of the institution, earlier published, showed that the examinations is to run through the 18th of July.
A trip to the various examination venue, as at 8am today showed that despite the early morning showers, students endeavoured to arrive the venue very early. When a student in the faculty of Education was asked why, he responded ‘that he had to make sure he got to the exam venue by 8am for the 9am examinations that he was scheduled to write’. This he explained further was because, 'invigilators usually emphasize punctuality and people that arrived late for the exams are usually penalised'.
A level of uniform-security presence was also noticed at the various examination venues. This may not be unconnected with the maintenance of law and order, as obtained in the conduct of any standard examination. The various examination venues were serene and generally peaceful.
This is wishing all students in both campuses of the University success in their on-going semester examinations. Godspeed!
